Auto accident near Laurel sends motorcyclist to hospital

The majority of personal injury claims in the country results from auto accidents, which are typically due to distracted driving, drunk driving, reckless driving and failure to follow the rules of the road. Car collisions are typically the result of some form of negligence, and determining the negligent party is essential in seeking compensation.

A collision between a car and a motorcycle was recently reported near Laurel, a little southeast of Billings, Montana. The accident reportedly happened when a car pulled out of a parking lot and struck the motorcycle, which was traveling westbound on Highway 10. The motorcyclist sustained injuries and was taken to a local hospital. His motorcycle was heavily damaged.

The driver of the car, a 53-year-old woman, did not sustain any injuries. Police said that alcohol was present and cited her with failure to yield to traffic and negligent endangerment.

Although the exact extent of the motorcyclist's injuries was not immediately known, treatment may be costly, especially if it involves surgery and rehabilitative therapy. In this case, the victim may pursue the negligent driver who was at fault by means of a personal injury lawsuit in order to obtain any compensation to which he may be entitled.

Victims of car accidents who decide to pursue a civil lawsuit will need to collaborate with doctors, other medical practitioners and law enforcement authorities in determining the total cost of treatment and the details of the accident. The victim may obtain compensation for lost wages, damages and pain and suffering.
