Man dies in Montana pedestrian-car accident on Highway 212

Montana residents are probably aware that although Montana is not the most populous state, it has a very high fatal car accident rate when compared with other states. State transportation and police departments often conduct awareness campaigns to discourage distracted driving, yet may people die each year in Montana in car accidents caused by distracted drivers. Sometimes alcohol is responsible for the accidents while at other times it is speeding that spurs the crashes.

In a recent late-evening incident, a 54-year-old man died in a car accident near Ashland on Highway 212. The Montana police stated that the driver was a 63-year-old man traveling east on the highway when his luxury car hit another man who was walking down the road's shoulder. The pedestrian was injured and removed to a local hospital, but he was pronounced dead from his injuries.

Montana police said that alcohol was not responsible for this accident. It is also not known if the man was speeding. An investigation is being carried out to establish the cause of the incident. The victim or his family can file a personal injury lawsuit if it can be proved that the car accident was caused by the driver's negligence or recklessness. The victim's family can seek compensation from the responsible party if this is the case.

The compensation amount will usually include damages caused by pain and suffering brought forth by the car accident. It will also frequently include lost wages, medical bills and the many other related costs of a sudden loss of life. The victim's family may also consult a Montana attorney who can evaluate the case and determine the amount to be claimed as compensation.
