One Dead in Montana Truck Accident

Residents of Billings may be familiar with the danger imposed by trucks such as 18-wheelers and tractor-trailers. Because of the size difference of these trucks compared to other vehicles, if a truck driver fails to concentrate on the road, a collision with another vehicle may occur and most likely lead to serious injuries. In a worst-case scenario, the truck may hit a pedestrian.

Recently, a truck accident killed a 26-year-old man who was crossing the street.

It was reported that the truck was driven by a 23-year-old man. Police stated that the driver agreed to undergo drug evaluation and a blood test. The blood test results are not yet available, but the police believed that the driver exhibited no signs of impaired driving. More so, it is reported that no charges or arrests have been made against the truck driver, though the truck accident remains under investigation.

Whenever a truck accident happens, it is important for investigators to observe the possible factors that may have caused the collision. Common factors may be impaired driving, reckless driving or driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Apart from these, the driver's legal duty to provide reasonable care while operating the large vehicle may be put in question. In such cases, if the evidence shows that the driver was negligent in causing the injuries, the motorist may face consequences including liability toward the injured party.

Truck accidents can be devastating. Where a truck accident involves in death, the family who lost a loved one due to the incident may be able to receive compensation to support the funeral expenses and other costs. Additionally, if the immediate family believes that the driver's negligence contributed to the collision, they may file a wrongful death case to recover compensatory damages.
