Car accident leaves one dead on U.S. 93 in Montana

Montana residents are aware that, despite a relatively low population, car accidents in the state are not uncommon. In an effort to combat motor vehicle accidents, Transportation and Police Departments throughout the state conduct campaigns to encourage cautious driving. Yet, even with such efforts, fatal accidents still occur in Billings, Montana, and throughout the state. Sometimes speeding is responsible for car accidents while, at other times, distracted driving, including intoxicated drivers or texting while driving, are the causes of accidents.

In a recent car accident, a 23-year-old woman was killed and two others injured in a two-car collision. A black Mazda was travelling south on U.S. 93 when the driver pulling off to the right side of the road lost control and swerved, ultimately moving to the northbound side of the highway and colliding head-on with a Honda. The Honda then rolled into a ditch, landing on its roof and trapping the driver. The driver of the Honda died at the scene; the passenger of the Mazda was airlifted to a local hospital, while the driver of the Mazda was sent via ambulance to a hospital.

Although the reason behind the car accident is not known, if it can be proved that the driver was responsible, then she may be ordered to pay compensation to the victims' families if they initiate a wrongful death lawsuit. The amount will include medical bills, lost wages, funeral costs and other costs to the loved one's family.

Following an accident with serious injuries or fatalities, victims may wish to consult a Montana attorney for advice and guidance.
